Lancia Flaminia Zagato Sport 2.5 3C "double bubble" in perfect condition - 2019 frame off restored

The Lancia Flaminia Zagato Sport combines two of the oldest and most prestigious names in the Italian automotive industry in one model.

Lancia, with a tradition of innovation and absolute technical excellence, was once the noblest of all automotive brands, while Carrozzeria Zagato has always been and still is one of the most respected Italian engineers and coachbuilders.

The Lancia Flaminia Zagato Sport is therefore the ultimate tribute to both companies.

First presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1958, the Lancia Flaminia Zagato Sport was designed by Carrozzeria Zagato and built from spring 1959.

The characteristic feature of all Flaminia Sport and Flaminia Supersport models was the Zagato-typical double bubble roof construction (two bulges above the occupants’ heads), which ensured good headroom and body rigidity.

With these prerequisites, this model quickly became the favourite of industrialists, the rich and beautiful, who lived a certain understatement and did not want to show off their vehicle. One of the great Lancia enthusiasts was Marcello Mastroianni, for example.

This Lancia Zagato 2.5L 3C Sport from 1962 is one of only 174 built in total.

In this context, 3C stands for the 3 Weber twin carburettors installed. Compared to the 1 C, this resulted in an increase in power from the original 119 hp to 140 hp, which was already sufficient for a top speed of 190 km/h in 1962!

This Zagato had been in the possession of a French family for over 30 years since 1979. Discovered as a barn find, it was restored over a period of four years by Thornley Kelham, one of the leading British Lancia specialists.

Completed in 2019, there are invoice receipts worth around £300,000. Since its complete restoration the car has only been driven and handful of times, in the dry to concours events, always stored in humidity controlled collection, and as such it still appears virtually as new.

Here are the facts in detail about this Zagato Sport in the wonderful colour “Grigio Argento Auteuil”, matching the original interior in Connolly leather “Rosso”, which has been 100% authentically restored.

Equipped with three Weber twin carburettors (2.5L 3C).
